Apex Supply Company began during the struggling era of the Depression when only good business, dependable service and quality products could keep a company alive. Joe Lerer, who was born in Eastern Europe, founded Apex in 1933 at the corner of Cedar Springs and Alamo in Dallas, Texas. There he worked with his father, Ellie Lerer in the junk business. Joe separated cast iron tubs and started a small side-business with used tubs, lavatories and reconditioned water heaters. Joe listed himself in the telephone book as Apex Supply in order to be first under the "A's" in the plumbing section.

Two years later Apex moved to a larger space at 1117 Akard Street and established itself as a plumbing supply company under Joe and Katie Lerer. They built the present Market Center office and warehouse in 1958, after their incorporation in 1947. Today, Apex Supply is still operated by the Lerer family and has retained its trademark of wholesale quality and dependability.

Market Center, Apex Supply's corporate headquarters, accommodates a warehouse and central distribution area of 31,000 sq. feet. The showroom, counter sales area and offices cover another 7,000 sq. feet. With a fleet of 18 trucks, seven locations in North Texas and one in Shreveport, Louisiana, Apex houses the most complete plumbing supply and parts department - and the friendliest service counters and showrooms -- anywhere. For over seventy years, Apex has grown to satisfy the needs of an expanding and rapidly changing market.

With many lines of plumbing supplies, kitchen and bath fixtures and accessories from which to choose, Apex plans to enter the next seventy years the same way Mr. Lerer began with his tubs and water heaters. Certainly, the times have changed since 1933, but Apex Supply's goal of service and reputation of integrity have not.
